The first level flyover at Biodiversity Junction built at a cost of Rs 30.26 crore will be inaugurated by MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao on Thursday.
Announcing this on Wednesday, Mayor B Rammohan said the new three-lane unidirectional flyover provides seamless movement for vehicles travelling from the Gachibowli side towards Raidurg and further to Mehdipatnam. The flyover, which has a total length of 690m with a viaduct span length of 480m, is 11.50m in width.
The facility is set on 17 abutment/piers on the busy road corridor that as estimated in the year 2019 has peak hour flow of 22,400 passenger car unit (PCUs) and the same is projected to go up to 30,678 PCUs by the year 2035.
“The flyover will do away with
conflicts at the junction on the old Mumbai highway and provide easy and comfortable access for motorists from Gachibowli heading to Raidurg,” the Mayor said.
The readying of the first level flyover here marks the completion of works at at Biodiversity Junction and along with the already completed projects at Mind Space Junction, Ayyappa Society Junction and Rajiv Gandhi Junction, a conflict-free traffic flow has been facilitated from Biodiversity Junction (Old Mumbai Highway) to JNTU (National Highway – 65).
“The works as part of SRDP Package – IV taken up at a cost of Rs 379 crore along the 12 km corridor between JNTU and Biodiversity Junction have been completed,” Rammohan said.
