Industries, IT and MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao will lay the foundation stone for the much-awaited medical college in Mahabubnagar.
Currently, there is a 350-bed fully functioning hospital which also doubles up as a makeshift medical college for students in the area. The State government has now allocated 50 acre of land along the Jadecherla-Mahabubnagar Road for the college. The government proposes to construct the Mahabubnagar Medical College on this land.
The college began two years ago and admissions for the 2016-17
batch were taken up. Similarly, admissions were conducted for the academic year 2017-2018 and every year, 150 students are enrolled in the college.
Earlier, the college was converted into a district medical facility and later the State government nurtured a college within it and converted it into a teaching hospital.
Health Minister C Laxma Reddy, Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Zilla Parishad chairmen and elected representatives will also participate in the function.
