Hyderabad will host the 17th edition of BioAsia from February 17 to 19, 2020 at Hyderabad International Convention Centre.
Minister for Industries and Commerce, KT Rama Rao along with Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary (I & C), VC & MD, TSIIC Narasimha Reddy and Director, Life Sciences, Shakthi Nagappan, launched the logo and theme and website (2020.bioasia.in) of BioAsia 2020.
BioAsia is an annual flagship international healthcare and technology convention of the Government of Telangana organised in partnership with Government of India. Various Centre and State organisations including TSIIC, Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH), State Innovation Cell, Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA), BIRAC, Invest India, Department of Pharmaceuticals, CSIR, MSME etc. will come together in organising the event.
The Minister said, “BioAsia has emerged as a global brand witnessing participation of the who’s who of the global Life Sciences and Healthcare sector. BioAsia has been instrumental in Hyderabad’s journey to becoming the life sciences capital of the country. We are committed to magnifying the scale of the event to greater heights. With an opportune theme of ‘Today for Tomorrow’, the event will help the life sciences industries prepare for the future.”
“The event will be a window to the future of life-sciences and will deliver the ultimate platform to anticipate the next required shift in perspective, vision and
innovation in the area of life-sciences, as the industry experts will share their thoughts on global trends. BioAsia has been and will continue to be the instrument to project the State’s strength and commitments in the field,” said Ranjan.
The conference has witnessed participation of the industry and research legends including several Nobel Prize winners, Lasker Awardees, Breakthrough Prize Awardees and eminent industry leaders, among others. Over the course of 16 years, the event has seen participation from over 20,000 leaders representing over 93 countries visiting Hyderabad and has conducted over 20,000 partnering meetings.
“Over the years, the event has come to truly evolve into a global platform as it witnesses participation of 1,500 high profile leaders from over 50 countries year on year. The event will attract over 1,800 leaders representing over 55 countries. The event will also feature a start-up competition called Start-up Stage and over the last few events, Start-up Stage has built immense reputation for itself with participation of over 100 start-ups each year,” said Shakthi Nagappan, CEO, BioAsia and director (Life Sciences), Government of Telangana.
Switzerland will be the partner country and Germany will be associate partner for this year’s edition. Assam and Kerala have already confirmed participation as State Partners for the event. Ernst & Young has been roped in as the exclusive Knowledge partner for the event.
