KT Rama Rao, the BRS working president and MLA from Sircilla constituency, filed two petitions seeking High Court intervention to quash the cases pending against him before the designated court for the MP and MLA cases at Nampally.
The cases arise out of the crime registered against him at the Banjara Hills police station. The March 27, 2024, complaint alleges that Rama Rao had passed comments on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy about collecting Rs 2,500 crore from contractors and builders and sent it to Delhi.
The complaint also states that Rama Rao said Revenath Reddy would join the BJP after
the Lok Sabha elections, therefore damaging the reputation of the Chief Minister, disturbing peace and promoting enmity between parties.
Another criminal case was registered by the Musheerabad police for participating in the roadshow at Musheerabad and the procession allegedly had no permission.
Rama Rao’s petitions challenged the chargesheets filed in both the crimes before the Nampally court, contending that the cases were baseless and lack any material or evidence to subject him to undergo the criminal proceedings.
The matters are expected to be heard on Friday.
