The Telangana government’s initiative to verify and update land records has evoked huge response from farmers across the State. Within a fortnight, the revenue department officials successfully visited 1,252 villages to physically to verify the land details.
The Chief Minister earlier asked the department officials to visit 10,733 revenue villages within 100 days. But the newly constituted Farmers Association’s Co-ordination Committees (FACCs) came in handy as the officials received much support from them in verifying land details of farmers. Within seven days, officials visited around 9.6 lakh acreas spreading over 30 districts in the
State.
“We are receiving prompt response from the farmers and landlords and they are helping the teams to verify the records,” said project director for the Land rectification Vakati Karuna.
She said that the teams declared that 80 percent of total lands was found to be clear. “From Tahasildar to CMO officials, everyone is monitoring the drive with the intention to complete rectification of land records,” she further added. She dubbed it as a massive exercise taken by the State government. The drive was initiated to rectify, simplify and computerise land records for ease access, she further added.
