The much-awaited launch of Metro operations on the Ameerpet-LB Nagar route is going to be around September 15.
According to Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited Managing Director, NVS Reddy, inspection of the route is likely to be taken up by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) and his safety team in 15 days.
After the inspection, the CMRS will permit operation of commercial services on the route, he said.
Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) Signaling, which is adopted in Hyderabad Metro, is advanced railway signaling system, which requires extensive testing in laboratory and at the site before being certified fit for passenger operations.
The safety Directorate of Thales, the signaling supplier for Hyderabad Metro along with Halcrow from United Kingdom, which is an Independent Safety
Assessor (ISA), is checking the test results in different scenarios.
It is also analysing the safety case from different viewpoints before issuing the safety certificate for the CBTC signaling and train control system of Ameerpet-LB Nagar stretch of Corridor I (Miyapur- LB Nagar).
“Every day huge amounts of data and analysis reports are being exchanged electronically between the signaling engineers based in Hyderabad and the safety team in Canada,” said Reddy.
All the other safety clearance documents pertaining to metro civil structures, tracks, electrical systems, etc., were already submitted to the CMRS.
Once the signaling ISA certificate is submitted to CMRS by L&TMRHL, the CMRS & his safety team will inspect the stretch and permit the launch of operations, he added.
