Health Minister C Laxma Reddy said a new building will be constructed at the Osmania Hospital and the works will commence shortly.
The Minister said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had personally inspected the Osmania Hospital. Given the existing condition of the building, authorities are unable to take up new developmental works, he said.
Speaking to media persons after launching the Cardiology wing, Cardiac ICU, CT scan, Dialysis and other facilities at the hospital on Thursday, the Minister said for the first time in the country, single use filters were being used in dialysis.
“An advanced theatre will be set up for organ
transplantation at a cost of Rs 50 crore at the hospital,” Reddy said adding that liver, heart and kidney transplantation was already being done.
First time in the public sector a fertility centre was set up at Gandhi Hospital.
Assuring that all the demands and issues raised regarding the staff crunch will be addressed, the Minister said shortage of nurses will be resolved in all the government hospitals across the State shortly, said a press release.
Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy, Sports Minister T Padma Rao and other senior leaders accompanied the Health Minister during the programme.
