The Secunderabad Cantonment will get a major facelift in the form of LED lights. About 10,000 street lights will be converted into LED lights by February 2018 by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), which has signed up with the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB).
SCB, CEO S V R Chandrashekar said, “There is going to be a major saving in energy and cost. It is going to be maintenance free and repairs would be on a time bound manner and would be addressed within 48 hours.”
Presently,
the power bills are close to Rs 30 lakh per month and once the LED project is completed the expected savings would be to the tune of Rs 16 lakh, a senior official said. SCB vice president J Ramakrishna said other municipalities have already entered into agreements with EESL and are reaping benefits. The savings in the form of energy as well as cost would be huge, the official added. EESl had been set up by the Ministry of Power, Government of India as the implementation arm of the MoP and Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
