India’s only hospital
train, Lifeline Express, launched its medical services at Kazipet railway
station here on Thursday for the benefit of underprivileged patients. The
Lifeline Express will offer its services till January 29.
Warangal Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu and
Warangal Urban Collector Amrapali Kata formally launched the services of the
179th project of the Lifeline Express.
The State Bank of India Foundation is sponsoring the
project of the Lifeline Express which is run by the Impact Foundation and

Narottham Reddy, appealed to the poor and underprivileged patients from
Warangal Rural, Warangal Urban, Jangaon, Mahabubabad and Jayashankar Bhupalpally
districts to utilise the medical services including the surgeries free of cost
at the Lifeline Express.

cannot afford to come here from far off places. Our SBI bank officials would
help the patients to arrive at Kazipet,” he announced.Stating that the last two projects, sponsored by SBI
in Assam and Odisha earlier, were attended by about 10,000 patients. Narottham
Reddy hoped that more than 10,000 patients would utilise the services at
Kazipet.
He said that he had convinced the Lifeline Express
management to offer services at Kazipet.Lifeline Express manager Vaibhav Gupta
said that they had conducted more than one lakh surgeries and provided medical
services to one million people since its inception in 1991.
Surgeries like cataract (eye), cleft lip,
orthopaedic/polio corrective and ear will be conducted besides screening for
oral, breast and cervical cancer, counselling, dental and epilepsy
treatment at the state-of-the-art hospital on wheels.
