Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said on Thursday that the ensuing parliamentary polls were laden with a greater political significance as they were going to decide the future of the country and path of its progress.
Addressing a public meeting in Khammam, he said the regional parties would get more than 250 seats to 260 seats in the elections while the BJP would have to settle with 130 to 140 seats and the NDA as a whole might not get more than 160 to 170 seats.
The Congress tally would be in the order of just 100 seats. Even if the BJP and the Congress came together, they would be falling short to form the government at the Centre. The TRS would certainly be playing a decisive role in national politics if it could win 16 seats.
He said there was ample scope for the non-BJP and non-Congress Front to form the new government this time. That was why the need for the Federal Front was felt and it was discussed with leaders of political parties across the country. No qualitative change would be
possible in politics with the victory of either the BJP or the Congress.
“Change is the need of the hour. There should a persuasive force to stir up people into action. Being the son of the soil, I have shouldered the responsibility. During the early days of the fight for Statehood, I used to tell my friends that the TRS would emerge into a major political force,” the Chief Minister said.
“I assured them in those days that leaders from the party would become MLAs, MPs, Ministers, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, Governors and even ambassadors. We could rise to the position of Union Ministers and Chief Minister. The day is not far to have Governors and ambassadors also from the party ranks,” he said.
The services of leaders like Thummala Nageswara Rao, former MLA, could also be utilised by giving them befitting positions. He appealed to the party leaders in Khammam district to sink differences if any and work together for the sake of the national interests.
