In Madhapur, 6.15 cm rain was recorded between 8pm and 9pm, bringing traffic to a grinding halt.As per the official data, Marredpally, Malkajgiri, Ramchandrapuram, Serilingampally and Saroornagar recorded heaviest downpours. Reports of inundated roads also came in from Tolichowki and Manikonda.
The Telangana State Development Planning Society pegged Ramchandrapuram's total rainfall at 8.33 cm, followed by Chanda Nagar (6.70 cm), Patancheru (5.43 cm) and Marredpally 2.68 cm.Though the core areas of Hyderabad remained insulated from the rainfall till 10 pm, these localities spread across Banjara Hills, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills and Begumpet, did receive moderate showers, leaving some roads waterlogged. As per the latest update, the average rainfall in this belt, however, remained
less than 1cm.
But even as the rainfall recorded from most areas was lower on Monday , experts said that the intensity was much high, primarily in Secunderabad. The rainfall resulted in power disruptions from a few minutes to a few hours in Madhapur, Ambedkar Nagar, Gunrock, Jawahar Nagar, Mytrivanam, Punjagutta. “It is merely thunderstorm activity with cumulonimbus clouds covering the entire city within a span of few hours,“ said YK Reddy , director in-charge of IMD, Hyderabad.
IMD said, “Thunderstorm associated with heavy rain very likely to occur at isolated places in all districts.“ Even as the south west monsoon brings more rains to the city for the next 10 days, weathermen also predict a gradual drop in temperature.
