Warangal: Mahabubabad district, which was lagging behind in terms of development in the past, is poised for major developments across sectors and is tops in the production of chilli powder across the state, tweeted IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday.
The quality of the chilli produced in the district is globally accepted as being of top standard, which is evidenced by a great demand across the world. To support chilli farmers in the district, the state government, apart from allotting land and sanctioning incentives, has established two large chilli processing plants in the
district.
One unit is Plant lipids at a cost of Rs 70 crore in Kuravi mandal and while the other, Vidya Herbs, has come up at a cost of Rs 50 crore in Maripeda mandal.
These two units are producing around 1.5 metric tonnes of chilli powder per annum, which is 25 per cent of the state’s total production of chilli.
Thanks to the two units, the income of farmers has increased by around 10 to 20 per cent. The two units extract oleoresin and exports from these units are shipped to over 85 countries, he added.
