Voters in Malkajgiri constituency have a simple choice to make when they go and cast their votes on April 11 for the Lok Sabha elections, Telangana Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao said.
Referring to Congress candidate A Revanth Reddy, Rama Rao said: “On the one side is a candidate who was caught red-handed with piles of cash in the cash-for-vote case. On the other is a man, an educationist and employment creator and TRS candidate Marri Rajasekhar Reddy. Vote for the TRS candidate who is well-educated and will serve the constituency and its people sincerely and with dedication.”
Rama Rao was addressing a series of road-side meetings in Malkajgiri constituency on Tuesday evening.
Explaining why the TRS needs to win 16 MP seats in the coming elections, Rama Rao said “in Delhi, only those who have the numbers are taken seriously. The BJP will not get more than 150 seats and the Congress will get less than a 100. With 16 MPs TRS will have a strong voice as regional forces will come together so our MPs can fight for what is due to Telangana and ensure we get what we should.”
Rama Rao said a vote for
Congress will only benefit its president Rahul Gandhi while a vote for BJP will benefit Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Why should we give our votes to others? We should use them to elect our candidates, strengthen Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who will fight for Telangana and the State and all of us will benefit,” he said.
Rama Rao said “if TRS wins 16 seats, and the government in Delhi is dependent on us, then we can get the funds we need for our projects. We can get funds to extend the Metro Rail to ECIL. We shall be in a position to dictate in Delhi and not beg for what is due to us.”
“It is because we did not have the numbers earlier, the Modi government could ignore Niti Ayog’s recommendation to give Telangana Rs 24,000 crore for Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagirata,” he said.
He said “from Modi’s ‘Chai pe charcha’, the country has moved on to ‘Rythu Bandhu pe charcha, Mission Bhagiratha pe charcha and Kaleshwaram pe charcha. In a short time, our Chief Minister’s leadership and vision has made everyone in the country look up to Telangana and talk about it.”
