Man sets his friend on fire in Telangana after being applied colour on Holi

A man set his friend on fire in the Medak district of Telangana after the latter forcefully applied colour on him on Holi.

The victim was identified as B Ambadas, while the man who set him on fire was identified as Shabbir.

The police said that the incident took place at Marpally village in the Medak district on the day of Holi, March 7, at around 1:30 pm.

A police officer said, “Shabbir was going towards his farm when the victim along with others stopped him to apply colours. Shabbir



refused, however, Ambadas forcefully applied colour. Shabbir immediately snatched the bottle containing petrol from the victim, poured it on him and set him ablaze. The victim suffered 35% burn injuries.”

B Ambadas was immediately taken to a hospital where he is undergoing treatment. His condition is said to be stable.

A case has been registered against Shabbir under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant Sections of the SC & ST Atrocities Act. Shabbir has been remanded in judicial custody.
