A massive fire broke out early Monday at the bustling Dewan Devdi market in Hyderabad’s historic Pathergatti area, gutting multiple textile and clothing shops. The blaze started on the fourth floor of Madina-Abbas Towers and quickly spread to adjacent stores, causing extensive property damage. Shop owners reported losses worth crores of rupees, with over 30 shops affected.
Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. Initial
reports suggested the fire spread horizontally rather than vertically, contradicting fears of structural collapse. More than 10–15 fire engines were deployed to douse the flames, but firefighters struggled due to the narrow lanes and the presence of highly flammable materials. Police and fire department teams responded swiftly, with senior officials, including the Joint Commissioner of Police, overseeing operations.
