Municipal Administration & Urban Development Department (MA&UD) department on Wednesday issued certain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines pertaining to Annapurna Canteens, sanitation, grievance redressal, enforcement and other social security aspects of people.
Accordingly, the GHMC has been asked to ensure Annapurna canteens offering hot and hygienic meals for Rs 5, provide dinner facility and dispense with collection of even token-fee from the beneficiaries, increase the number of meals and revise timings. The officials were asked to focus on provision of food to inmates of night shelters and orphanages.
Apart from using social media platforms for effective dissemination of information and redressal of citizen grievances, municipal authorities were directed to ensure proper
sanitation at vegetable markets, weekly markets, meat stores and at establishments selling essentials. High Priority should be given to notified slums and places where migrant workers live.
Commercial establishments should keep sanitisers, ensure social distancing and display timings and the onus of monitoring the commercial establishments lies with GHMC too apart from police. While cinema halls, amusement parks and clubs would remain close, permission of district Collector is necessary for conducting marriage functions and maximum of 40 people are allowed.
Making arrangements for disposal of Covid dead bodies as per guidelines is also the responsibility of the municipal body and officials should not allow more than 20 people to participate in the last rites.
