Greater Hyderabad
Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Bonthu Rammohan who assumed charge on Friday
welcomed denizens to be part of the historic city's growth story.
The long-time TRS loyalist and young leader from Cherlapally said that he would live up to the expectations of the people who have given a historic mandate in favour of TRS. “I will develop Cherlapally division on the lines of Erravelli village, which has been adopted by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao,” Rammohan said.
Rammohan said
decongestion of roads and sewerage would be accorded top priority, apart from a
host of other civic issues that need immediate attention. "The drainage
system was designed for a population of 30 lakh, while the city has grown
rapidly and it is
extremely difficult to manage the sewerage network. Hyderabad
will be made slum-free and ensure traffic-free junctions,” he said.
The mayor further said that he would increase the Rs 5 meal centres from 51 to 150 in the city limits, based on their need. "We will involve corporators and the general public for the successful implementation of various welfare schemes and resolve every civic issue.
The mayor said a plan of action was ready for taking up development works in the city and emphasised that development would not be possible without the active participation of the general public.
