It is a significant achievement considering that she jumped onto the political bandwagon, as a member of Labour Party, as recently as 2014.
One of nine children, the social activist-politician was born into an agricultural family. An alumnus of
Kamala Nehru College, Nampally, she migrated to the UK in 1970 and was involved in social activities even during her youthful days.
A hardcore Telanganite, Saleha has been following the developments in the state since it became the country's 29th State. Patting the GHMC, she said it was a good augury that 79 of the 150 corporators were women. ‘This is an indication of women empowerment of the most exalted kind,’ she said, while exhorting women representatives to prove their mettle and be trail-blazers.
Saleha interacted with Bonthu Ram Mohan and discussed about the functionalities and similarities of both the corporations. She invited him to visit London in order to exchange ideas and help make Hyderabad a global city, as a thanksgiving gesture to her native state.untry’s 29th State.
