Mecca Masjid illuminated for Shab-e-Meraj

Mecca Masjid in Old City and in other parts, the mosques were illuminated with colourful lights for the celebration of Shab-e-Meraj today. Shab-e-Meraj falls on the 27th day of the seventh Islamic month of Rajjab. To mark the occasion, special religious programmes on the importance of the night to be held. The



month of Ramzan is expected to begin in the first week of April. Thousands of Muslims gather at mosques and offer prayers during night till Fajar prayers. Religious programmes are organised with Shab-e-Meraj, considered to be the countdown for the holy month of Ramzan.
