Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday pointed out that in countries like the US, everyone undergoes diagnostic tests on a regular basis.
“Similarly, people in Telangana State should also be educated on the need to go in for diagnostic tests regularly. Those having awareness and money will go for diagnostic tests. But the poor living in villages and rural areas visit hospitals only when they are ill and they seldom go for any diagnostic tests, making it difficult to identify the disease in the primary stages,” the Chief Minister said at a review meeting of the Medical and Health Department at Pragathi Bhavan here.
Pointing out that early detection helps in
curing the disease, Chandrashekhar Rao said that in many cases, however, it was detected when the disease was at the final stage. “This should not happen henceforth. The government will conduct tests for everyone in every village on a regular basis. Collect the blood samples and conduct tests for all diseases,” the Chief Minister instructed the officials.
Asking the officials to chalk out an effective health check-up scheme, he said that once the illness is detected, the patient should be treated at government cost. “Money is not a constraint; the government is ready to spend any amount. The government has no other priority item on its agenda than protecting the health of the poor people,” he declared.
