The Hyderabad District Chemists and Druggists Association has decided to close medical stores in the city by 7 pm from Tuesday onwards to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Pharmacies attached to hospitals are exempted.
Md Aijaz Hussain, general secretary of the association told that the decision was taken following an increase in cases of Covid-19 in Hyderabad.
“Many medical store staffers have also tested positive for Covid-19.
Mostly patients visit the stores and there is always a high risk of contracting the virus. Hence the decision was taken in the interest of the society and our members,” he said.
It may be recalled that many medical store owners and workers mostly in the older parts of the city tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 10 days. Following this, the association had released an advisory asking pharmacy owners to take precautions.
