Hyderabad: A dream came true for S Supriya who co-piloted the inaugural Hyderabad Metro train with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and other dignitaries aboard on Tuesday.
Along with another pilot, Supriya operated the train on the inaugural run from Miyapur to Kukatpally and back to Miyapur.
Hailing from Nizamabad, the post
graduate in mechanical engineering had undergone rigorous training for 18 months with Hyderabad Metro Rail. She has the experience of completing 2,500 km of loco-piloting and also travelled in Bangalore metro train.
Though she had the option of making a career in software development, Supriya chose to work in core engineering field and this drew her to HMR to work as a loco pilot.
