Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday directed the officials to prepare proposals for the construction of a mega convention centre.
Reviewing the budget proposals for Roads and Buildings Department, the Chief Minister said the city required one more convention centre in addition to HICC as the city emerged as a hub for global events. The progress of the proposed Kalabharathi auditorium at NTR stadium was also discussed in detail.
He instructed officials to take up road connectivity to the State capital and districts, mandals and villages on a war-footing. He asked them to lay quality roads on a permanent basis to cater to the needs of future
generations. The plans to lay four-lane roads to the State capital from all district headquarters and two-lane roads connecting mandal headquarters with district headquarters would be prepared and implemented in the new financial year.
“Providing better road connectivity is the top priority of the government which is key for development,” KCR said and stressed the need to implement the policy decision to lay roads to every village and construct offices for legislators in their respective constituencies within a year.
A six-member committee headed by Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma was constituted to finalise layout and design for the purpose.
