Mercury may touch 44 degrees Celsius in Telangana: IMD

Temperatures across Telangana have consistently started to peak in the last 48 hours, triggering severe heatwave-like conditions.

On Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad issued a heatwave alert in multiple districts including Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad and Jagtial till April 26, where temperatures could increase to more than 44 degrees Celsius.

Between Thursday and Saturday, the IMD-Hyderabad has also issued an orange alert for temperatures to be hovering between 41 degrees Celsius and 44 degrees Celsius across all the districts of Telangana, including Hyderabad.

The weather forecast released by IMD-Hyderabad on Tuesday evening said temperatures across the State will witness a gradual rise by 2 degrees Celsius to 3 degrees



Celsius.

Meanwhile, maximum temperatures on Monday and Tuesday continued to hover between 41 degrees Celsius and 44 degrees Celsius at multiple locations in the State. While the maximum average temperature in Hyderabad between Monday and Tuesday was 41.9 degrees Celsius, the temperatures in certain regions of Adilabad including Tamsi touched 44 degrees Celsius.

In Hyderabad, the maximum average temperature of 41.9 degrees Celsius was recorded at Kapra and LB Nagar while a maximum of 41.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Uppal followed by 41.4 degree Celsius at Hayathnagar. Areas like Malakpet, Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Falaknuma, Mehdipatnam, Rajendranagar, Karwan, Musheerabad, Jubilee Hills, Khairatabad, Chandanagar, Serilingampally etc recorded maximum temperatures that ranged between 41 degrees Celsius and 42 degrees Celsius.
