Meru cabs have launched a fleet of e-Veritos, the all-electric sedan by Mahindra.
Mahindra Electric had recently joined hands with Meru to initiate a pilot project for electric vehicles in the city. To this effect, a small fleet of five Mahindra e-Verito sedans is being operated from the Hyderabad International Airport initially, while plans are afoot to augment the fleet based on the response.
Meru officials said the number of e-vehicles would soon be increased to 30. The idea is to shift most of its fleet to electric mode in the next four years.
The Mahindra
eVerito is available for booking in the city through Meru’s mobile app, website, call centre and also available at the Meru Zone in the Hyderabad airport. The services are available at the same fare as stipulated by the Telangana government’s radio taxi fares for sedans.
CEO of Meru Cabs, Nilesh Sangoi, said the electric vehicle ecosystem was growing at a rapid pace towards a point where it would soon bridge the viability gap. The potential of electric vehicles in bringing down air pollution levels and savings in energy bills is unparalleled, he said.
