Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR), on Tuesday claimed that the project has achieved 75 per cent overall progress.HMR managing director NVS Reddy, speaking at the year end review meeting here on Tuesday said: “2016 has been an eventful year for the Hyderabad Metro Rail project. Several long pending properties have been acquired and contentious issues resolved at some critical locations to take the project forward.” With the ground works that commenced in 2012, it appears they may not meet the July 2017 deadline.
Officials are now learnt to be eyeing at December 2018 launch of the `14,132 crore project. As per the concession agreement reached between the state government and L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd, the



deadline for completion of the project was July 2017. Reddy had said. During 2016, an amount of `2,902 crore was spent (`2,742 crore by L&TMRHL and `160 crore by HMRL).
The cumulative expenditure on the project so far, compared to the initial estimated cost, is `14,172 crore . With the completion of 2,340 foundations in 61 km, 2,231 pillars (58 km) and viaduct in 50 km, and completion of major portion of works in overhead electrical traction, signalling and telecommunication systems and at stations, the project has achieved 75 per cent overall progress, Reddy said. Work on corridor-1 from Miyapur to LB Nagar and corridor-3 from Nagole to Shilparamam are going on at a brisk pace, sources said.
