The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) and project developer L&T have been at loggerheads over the fares for some time. While L&T has asked for the basic fare to be fixed at Rs.15 and maximum fare at Rs.55, the state government has been insisting that the minimum fare should be Rs.10 on the lines of Bangalore and Delhi Metro prices. The state government held
discussions with L&T on pricing earlier this month and reportedly finalised the fare a few days ago.
The minimum fare for the first 2km is likely to be Rs.12 and the maximum fare Rs.45. Municipal administration minister K T Rama Rao is expected to make an announcement on the Metro fares at an event on Saturday.
