The Metro Rail will chug into Hyderabad’s IT hub by the end of December, while the services on another much-awaited stretch, the MGBS-JBS route, will be launched by the middle of next year. An official announcement on the same came from Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Managing Director NVS Reddy on Monday, with Reddy saying electrical works were completed and that signalling works were under way on the Ameerpet-Hitec City station.
The works to facilitate reversal between the Hitec City station and Hotel Trident, allowing the train to take a ‘U’ turn in layman terms, would be completed by March. To and from services would, however,
be on from the end of December, he said. At present, nearly 1.75 lakh passengers travel a day on the existing routes of Miyapur-LB Nagar and Nagole-Ameerpet. Once the Metro services begin on the Ameerpet-Hitec City route, the patronage will increase steadily and substantially, he informed at a press conference along with LTMRHL CEO and MD KVB Reddy here.
Works on the MGBS-JBS route are also being taken up at a brisk pace and services on this route will be launched during the middle of next year. Regarding the services in the old city, the HMRL MD said the survey for property acquisition was completed.
