Metro services on Sunday witnessed heavy rush with the patronage touching 2 lakh mark and forcing the authorities to deploy more services with shorter frequency.
With the number of commuters on Miyapur to LB Nagar stretch swelling between 5 pm and 7 pm, the officials deployed services additional to 19 trains operated as per schedule and ran them with a frequency of 3.5 minutes.
To ensure passengers convenience, Metro officials also decided to operate trains with short frequency from Monday during peak hours both in the morning and evening,
depending on the rush on the Miyapur-LB Nagar route.
On Sunday, some additional trips were operated from Dilsukhnagar towards Miyapur and from Kukatpally Housing Board towards LB Nagar for even distribution of services. Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited Managing Director, NVS Reddy said the footfalls was expected to touch 2 lakh mark of which 1.80 lakh would be paid passengers.
Meanwhile, many senior citizens and women were seen traveling in groups in the Metro services to experience the travel comfort and convenience.
