The Hyderabad Metro Rail is likely to increase the frequency of the trains on the stretch from February 2018. As of now, over one lakh passengers have been commuting on the Metro Rail daily on weekdays and close to 2 lakh on weekends.
At present, project developer L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited has been running services once every eight minutes from Miyapur to Ameerpet and once every 15 minutes from Ameerpet to Nagole. The trains are being operated from 6am to 10pm .
Reviewing the metro rail operations here on Tuesday, municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao took stock of the situation and directed the officials to complete the Ameerpet to Hi-Tec City metro link by June 1, 2018.
In view of complaints on parking woes at
all the stations barring Miyapur and Nagole, the minister said that parking facilities should be provided at all 24 Metro stations in operation right now.. Officials reportedly informed the minister that parking space is available only at 12 stations and at the remaining stations, arrangements are being made for onstreet parking.
KTR directed officials to publicise the parking facilities at Metro stations to avoid chaos and to take the help of traffic police. To avoid rush at ticket counters, he said, both HMR and L&T should create awareness among people on use of smart cards.
Municipal aministration secretary Navin Mittal, HMR managing director NVS Reddy and GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy were present at the meeting.
