Microquakes strike at Borabanda in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Residents of Borabanda and surroundings areas panicked following tremors associated with loud sounds early on Saturday and again in the evening.

An NGRI scientist said, “microearthquakes with sounds at shallow depth occurred in the rocky area of



Bora-banda”. He said the increase in the groundwater levels acted like a lubricant, causing the microearthquakes. 

Khairatabad mandal tahsildar T. Saidulu said the magnitude of the tremors was very small and was not recorded by the NGRI.
