Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed, was celebrated on Wednesday with religious zeal and fervour. Several Milad processions were taken out from various parts of Old City, amid tight security.
At daybreak, Sunni Muslim clerics and people came out offering special prayers in mosques for upholding religious teachings, unity, solidarity and welfare of the people in the state.
Apart from Milad committees, certain religious organizations undertook activities, including processions, conferences, naat, dua and other programmes to observe the annual auspicious occasion.
Later, a huge procession was taken out from Mecca Masjid, following zohar prayers by the Sunni United Forum of India, which
passed through Gulzar Houz, Pathergatti, Madina building, Nayapul, Salarjung Museum, Darulshifa, Purani Haveli, Mir Alam Mandi, Ali jah Kotla and culminated at Moghalpura.
Many organizations conducted blood donation camps to help thalassemia and cancer patients. Food, soft drinks and water was distributed among devotees in many places and stages were also set up at certain places to welcome the Milad processions.
All India Majlis Tameer e Millat also conducted its 69th Yaum Rahmatulil Alameen meeting at Nampally exhibition ground to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Mohammed.Well-known scholars and intellectuals spoke on the importance of Prophet Mohammed and urged Muslims to be united to deal with challenges.
