On the eve of the 10th Telangana Formation Day, the railway ministry announced the survey of high-speed railway lines between the Telugu states. This followed Union minister G. Kishan Reddy meet and writing to his Cabinet colleague Ashwini Vaishnaw on the need to have high-speed trains between the two states.
The Centre said it had taken the decision to improve connectivity between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and was a part of the many initiatives and assistance being provided for the development of the Telugu
states.
In the last nine years, the railway ministry had either completed or was in the process of executing works worth more than Rs 30,000 crore related to laying new railway lines, doubling and tripling existing lines and electrification works.
A statement said the railway ministry was working towards improving amenities in close to 40 railway stations in Telangana, providing Wi-Fi connectivity, and introduction of Vande Bharat Express trains.
