Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Friday said the Congress always used minorities as its vote bank and never worked for their welfare.

Unfortunately, if at all the Congress comes to power, curfews would be back and the law and order situation would take a hit, he said while addressing the people at Shaheen Nagar here.

Stating that the TRS government had always strived for the welfare of all sections and communities, including minorities, Rao said Telangana was the only State in the country which had allocated Rs 2,000 crore for minority welfare. During the Congress reign in united AP, the same was a mere Rs 200 crore, he pointed out.

Dismissing speculations and rumours of TRS planning a secret pact with the BJP, the Minister said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had never supported the Modi government or the BJP party.

In a road show at Jillelaguda, when the Minister asked if anyone got Rythu

Bandhu or Rythu Bhima benefits, there was a roar from the audience and many people raised their hands and turbans, responding positively to the Minister.

Launching an attack on the Prajakutami, he said four parties had joined hands to take on a single party and its chief. The Congress would stoop to any level to come to power. Joining hands with Telugu Desam Party was an example of how Congress was indulging in opportunistic politics, he said, adding that TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu was trying to instigate regional differences among Telugu people.

Parties should promise on development or welfare measures but in desperation to win the elections, they were promising to conduct matrimonial meets for bachelors and perform their marriages, the Minister said, telling another gathering at Saroornagar, that yet another English news channel in a survey had predicted that the TRS would emerge victorious in the elections.
