The ambitious project of the TRS Government ‘Mission Bhagiratha’ , conceived by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to provide safe and adequate drinking water to the people in Telangana  State,  with an estimated expenditure of Rs.40,000 crores,  would be completed in the next three years.

Disclosing this in his budget speech in the Telangana Assembly on Monday,  Finance Minister E.Rajender said that so far administrative



sanction has already been accorded for works amounting Rs.36,976.54 crores. Nearly 6100 villages are likely to receive water from Mission Bhagairatha  by December this year, and efforts were being made to cover nearly 95 percent of the villages in the state by December 2017, he added.

            The Finance Minister said that innovative extra-budgetary options have been drawn up to fund the entire cost of Mission Bhagiratha with committed financial assistance from HUDCO, NABARD, Bank of India and other financial institutions.
