Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has set a new deadline for commencing phase-4 of Mission Kakatiya (MK-4) from February 3 across the State. Priority will be given for construction of feeder canals, during the latest spell of Mission Kakatiya.
Reviewing the arrangements for MK-4 through video-conference from Secretariat on Tuesday, Irrigation Minister Harish Rao asked officials to send daily updates on the progress of works using WhatsApp groups. He wanted commencement of grounding works by January end and involve all elected representatives including Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, ZP Chairpersons and others along with district administration for rejuvenation and revival of 5,703 minor
irrigation and village tanks under MK-4.
Under MK-4 works, the irrigation officials have been instructed to give priority to the stabilisation of existing ayacut and also the creation of additional ayacut where cultivation is being taken up under these minor irrigation tanks. All irrigation officials including superintending engineers and executive engineers have been instructed to take up field trips to all work sites to oversee the progress of MK-4. The list of tanks where desiltation will be taken up is being forwarded to the agriculture department officials to make arrangements for lifting the silt and use it for improving soil fertility in agricultural fields.
