Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Friday appointed Vemulawada BRS MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh as adviser to the state government on agriculture with Cabinet minister rank for a period of five years.

Ramesh, whose German citizenship case is pending in the High Court, was recently denied a BRS ticket. Ramesh won Assembly polls four times from Vemulawada constituency. He won on a TD ticket in 2009, and quit the seat to join the join TRS (now BRS) in 2010 and won a



bypoll the same year. Subsequently, he won the 2014 and 2018 elections.

Ramesh obtained his PhD in agriculture economics from Humboldt University of Berlin in 1987. A press release issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said that Ramesh as a research student and professor in agriculture possessed vast knowledge in agriculture which the government wanted to utilise for the benefit of the state and the farmers.
