The model code of conduct has come into effect in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with the Election Commission of India on Sunday announcing the schedule for the MLC elections in Telugu states.
Elections will be held on March 22 to fill four vacancies of the legislative council, two graduates’ seats, and one each of local bodies and teachers’ constituencies in Andhra Pradesh.
In Telangana, polling will be held for four MLC vacancies. They are one graduates (Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Krimnagar), two teachers
(Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar and Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam) and one local authority (Hyderabad) constituencies.
The following is the poll schedule: Issue of notifications: February 25; last date of making nominations: March 5; scrutiny of nominations: March 6; Last date of withdrawal of candidatures: March 8; date of polling: March 22.
Polling will be held from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. Counting of votes will be taken up on March 26. The polling process will be completed by March 28.
