Hyderabad woke up to a rainy Monday.Most localities of the city have been receiving moderate to heavy rains since early morning. Kapra received 16.5 mm rain till 9 am, followed by Madhapur which received 16 mm rainfall.
The cyclonic activities in Bay of Bengal have less intensified. Due to this a depression has formed over Telangana and adjoining areas.
In a video message, the Director of India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, Dr K Nagaratna, shared, “Telangana districts are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rains, while few districts might experience extremely heavy rains on Monday. The rainfall will be accompanied with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph,
sometimes even 45 kmph. The depression is likely to less intensify in the next 24 hours.”
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation have also issued a warning in view of the heavy rainfall prediction for the next three days. They have alerted all the field teams and officers to be ready to handle any emergency situation.
Meanwhile, several districts of Telangana have also been receiving heavy rainfall. Districts including Sangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri, Rangareddy and Bhadradri Kothagudem have received up to 54 mm rainfall till 9am. Wyra in Khammam received the highest rainfall of 61.3 mm.
