The much-awaited southwest monsoon has advanced and covered entire Telangana resulting in widespread rains across the State since Thursday night.
Very heavy rains reported at isolated places in Mancherial district since Thursday with Chennur in the district recording 13 cm rainfall followed by 10 cm in Mortad of Nizamabad district.
The Indian Meteorological Department on Friday issued a rainfall warning for next 24 hours citing favourable conditions for formation of a low-pressure area over North Bay of Bengal during the corresponding period.
The pre-monsoon showers brought down the maximum temperature by 4-5 degrees Celsius in various places across the State.
Under the influence of an existing cyclonic circulation, a low-pressure area is very likely to develop over North Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours. The same is likely to concentrate further into a depression during the subsequent 48 hours and move towards Bangladesh Coast. As a result, heavy rains are forecast at isolated places in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Rangareddy, Kamareddy, Jagtial and Nirmal.
