The Monsoon session of the Telangana State Legislature has been adjourned sine-die yesterday abruptly amidst COVID pandemic concerns. As per the Business Advisory Committee meeting held on 7th of this month, the session of the legislature was to continue till 28th of this month.
However, the session has been cut short with reporting of a considerable number of COVID cases from Members and Staff. Both, the Council and the Assembly passed about a dozen Bills and took up discussions on a couple of important issues of public importance including COVID, energy sector and infrastructure facilities in GHMC area among others during the session.
Chairman of the Legislative Council,
Gutta Sukhender Reddy and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy held a meeting with the Legislative Affairs Minister Prashanth Reddy this morning and discussed the special conditions prevailing in the wake of the Pandemic.
The Chairman of the Council announced later in the house that the Session is being cut short amidst special conditions. Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy informed the Assembly that the session was planned to take up many important public issues for discussion during the session. He recalled that several members expressed concerns over the spread of COVID among members. He proposed to adjourn the house sine die keeping in view all those concerns.
