Monsoon will hit Kerala on time, on June 1, and reach Rayalaseema the same day. According to calculations of the Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, its onset over Telangana will be on June 5, much ahead of the usual date of June 13. The official announcement regarding the monsoon’s arrival will be made on May 15.
Assistant meteorologist M. Narsimha Rao said, “The onset of the monsoon will depend on the formation of low pressure over North Bay of Bengal. June 1 is the normal date for onset of
the monsoon in Kerala but it may vary. The arrival of the rains in TS will depend on the progress of the monsoon from Kerala. On June 1 it will touch Rayalaseema, too, against last year’s June 10.
According to calculations of the Indian Meteorological Depart-ment, Hyderabad, Monday saw rain at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. There was an appreciable rise in maximum temperatures at one or two places over Coastal AP and a marked fall at a few places over Rayala-seema.
