The mosques across Hyderabad city are busy making arrangement to ensure Friday prayers are held following physical distancing norms in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
At the Masjid-e-Azizia located at the Mehdipatnam, the mosque committee will be holding two prayer congregations at 1 pm and 2 pm this Friday.
“To avoid crowding, Juma prayers shall be performed at two different times. Following social distancing norms people can join any of the two prayers,” the mosque said in a release.
June 12 is the first Friday after the government relaxed 90-day restrictions on gatherings at the places of prayer. Usually, during Friday afternoon prayers, the gathering at mosques are big with the premises getting fully packed.
Keeping in view the
situation, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi suggested to the mosque committees to hold two prayers congregations. Following the advice, many have decided to hold Friday prayers at two different timing.
At the Masjid-e-Aaliya located at Gunfoundary, the committee expects there won’t be much rush as the community avoiding gatherings.
“We asked the people to perform ablution at home and carry along a prayer rug. There are three floors and people will be asked to maintain physical distance and attend the prayers,” said Ghulam Yazdani, president of the mosque committee.
Elsewhere in the city the managements are planning to put up the tents on the terrace of the mosque or the courtyard so as to accommodate people.
