Multi-super speciality hospital to be constructed in Hanamkonda: Harish Rao

Warangal: Health minister T. Harish Rao on Wednesday underlined that people of Hanamkonda and surrounding districts will not have to look at Hyderabad for medical treatment. "All advanced medical services will be made available at the multi-super speciality hospital being constructed in Hanamkonda on the lines of Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad," he declared.

The minister said a six-lane road is being constructed all around the hospital for ambulances to reach the respective trauma care centres. There will be a guest house for accommodating 250 family members who accompany the patients undergoing kidney and liver transplants. A 6,000 kilowatt generator is being procured to supply 4,800 kilowatt of power at a time without any interruption. 

Further, there will be an 800 kilolitre water treatment plant at the hospital premises to provide clean water.

Harish Rao said it is a matter of fortune that people of Warangal district will have both the health university and super speciality hospital in the heart of Hanamkonda city. He pointed out that when the state was formed, there had been only Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal. But now, the erstwhile



Warangal district has three medical colleges, with another one being established very soon in Mulugu.

The minister pointed out that when Telangana had been formed, the number of medical seats in the state had been 2,958. Their number increased to 8,340 under the BRS government. Now, students of Telangana region need not go to Russia or China for their medical education, he underlined.

Harish Rao said the state government has in its budget allocated 3,000 crore for medical sector. Besides efficient medical services, it is implementing schemes like Aarogya Laxmi and KCR and Nutrition kits. It has also appointed specialist doctors. He observed that people have now started getting admitted into government hospitals. In this context, he said around 70 per cent of deliveries in the state are taking place in government hospitals.

Earlier, the health minister, accompanied by panchayat raj minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao and government chief whip and Hanamkonda MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, inaugurated the Colombo Medical College on the Hunter Road and a diagnostic centre on the premises of Government Maternity Hospital, Hanamkonda.
