The super rich club in Telangana is just five short of 100, a wealth report said on Monday.
According to Hurun India’s wealth report, Hyderabad has 94 persons each of whose wealth is reported to be higher than Rs 1,000 crore. One person is from Khammam.
The richest person in the state is Murali Divi, promoter of drug-maker Divi’s Labs, with a personal wealth of Rs 55,700 crore. He was followed by P. Pitchi Reddy of Megha Engineering (Rs 37,300 crore), P.V. Krishna Reddy (Rs 35,800 crore), B. Parthasaradhi Reddy (Rs 21,900 crore) and Rameswar Rao Jupally (Rs 17,500 crore).
The combined wealth of the 95 richest people in Telangana is valued at Rs 4,98,000 crore. Of this, the top five account for one-third or Rs 1,68,200 crore, while the remaining 89 crorepatis are valued at the rest of the Rs 3,29,800 crore.
Contrary to
Hyderabad’s labelling as the IT major, it is the pharmaceutical sector which had created wealth for its richie rich. Out of 95 super rich, 23 people are the founders of the drug manufacturers with a combined wealth of Rs 1,88,600 crore.
The second largest contingent of the super rich comes from sectors which are related to construction and real estate. The 20 super rich from construction, cement, and real estate are worth Rs 1,59,000 crore.
The healthcare sector has six super rich with a combined wealth of Rs 25,700 crore. Industrial manufacturing related sectors have 17 super rich people with a combined wealth of Rs 39,700 crore.
The information technology, which made Hyderabad globally famous and is the largest employer in the city, has just seven super rich people with a combined wealth of Rs 21,500 crore.
