A gate of Musi river was lifted on Monday morning as a precautionary step after the water level touched the maximum storage level due to increasing inflow.The water level in the Musi project reached to 644.60 feet against the maximum level of 645 feet, said the officials of Irrigation Department who decided to lift the gate.

Veeresham pressed the control board’s switch to lift a gate of Musi project at 11 am.With this 1,300 cusecs of water was released to downstream by lifting the gate up to 2 feet.
The gate would further be lifted up by one feet, if the inflow to the project increases. Presently, the inflow to Musi project was 1,800 cusecs.
