The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken a step forward in its e-governance initiative by launching an upgraded version of the MyGHMC mobile app, with a modified user interface and new features and services.
Introduced two years ago, the MyGHMC app initially facilitated such activities as payment of property taxes and applying for trade licenses, checking of LRS status, downloading of birth and death certificates and lodging grievances.
The app now enables citizens to find nearby facility centres such as public toilets, sports complexes, parking spaces, and food counters, as well as check for weather updates and disaster alerts. The upgraded app also includes an additional 79 grievance categories alongside the existing 46, and also integrates the Mosquito and
Swachh Dhooth apps.
A corporation official has said that the app will soon provide information on GHMC circle offices, zones, wards etc. “Many more e-governance features, such as notifications to citizens regarding online applications, are being planned. GHMC aims to reach 1,000,000 users through the app by 2019, from the current user base of 370,000.
The app is now available on Playstore for android users and shall soon be available on the app store for iOS users. The information technology wing of GHMC is also working to unite all public services and official approvals on a single platform as One GHMC, with end-to-end status tracking for improved efficiency and higher disposal rates,” he added.
