Malkajgiri MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao, angry with the BRS for denying his son a poll nomination, on Friday announced his resignation from the party. He released a one-minute-long video in which he said his decision was as per the wishes of the people of his constituency, his supporters and well-wishers.
He added that he would make an announcement "within no time" on which party he would be joining. Sources revealed that Hanumantha Rao was in touch with the Congress.
It is learnt that Chief Minster K. Chandrashekar Rao would announce Marri Rajashekar Reddy,
son-in-law of minister Ch Malla Reddy, as the BRS candidate for Malkajgiri. Rajashekar Reddy lost the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat in 2019 to Congress candidate A. Revanth Reddy by 10,919 votes.
Hanumantha Rao was angry with the BRS leadership for denying a ticket to his son Mynampally Rohith to contest the Assembly polls from Medak. He had held finance minister T. Harish Rao responsible for Rohith not getting the ticket and accused him of indulging in corruption and amassing huge wealth. He even threatened to contest the Siddipet seat and defeat Harish Rao.
