IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Monday assured that the government schemes would be extended to eligible persons in the Sikh community, besides construction of a Gurudwara in Hyderabad on the lines of Nanded once the party comes to power.
He urged the Sikh leaders to observe the four-and-half years rule of TRS and cast their vote. He reiterated that TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao would retain the Chief Minister’s post for next five years.
He was speaking at a thanksgiving organised by Sikh community at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, the Minister said though there were apprehensions among various communities after the State formation, the TRS government had strived to instill confidence in them and continued the Ganga-Jamuna tehzeeb of Hyderabad.
He said the TRS government did not encourage politics on the basis of caste, religion and region, but instead, implemented all welfare programmes without any bias.
Listing out a host
of welfare programmes being implemented by the State government, Rama Rao said the State was spending 40 per cent of its funds on welfare activities. He said the State was growing at the rate of 17.17 per cent which was highest in the country. He was confident that upon completion of Kaleshwaram, Sitarama and Palamuru-Rangareddy projects, Telangana would outrun the crop production of Punjab which was known as the State of five rivers.
Rama Rao said TRS was the only party to have a Sikh, Ravinder Singh, who is serving as Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar. He reiterated that TRS respected people notwithstanding their caste and creed.
He said the construction of double-bedroom houses was progressing at rapid pace in Greater Hyderabad area and would be completed by April next year. He assured the gathering that eligible persons from the Sikh community would receive the benefits of welfare schemes without any discrimination.
