Home minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy on Tuesday flagged off 100 mini fire tenders for the fire stations across the state. The mini fire tenders will be more useful to deal with fire mishaps in the lanes and bylanes of city and more particularly in the Old City.
The home minister, after flagging off the mini fire tenders at People’s Plaza here, said that the fire personnel can now reach the places of fire mishap sooner and prevent damages to life and property.  These motorcycle-mounted high-pressure water-mist-based fire suppression systems would be helpful in the event of a blaze in congested urban environments, Narasimha Reddy said.
“The newly-launched mist bikes will be given to fire

stations located in rural areas. If needed, more advanced kits and fire extinguishing equipment will also be given to the department,” the minister said.He said that the bikes contain four air cylinders and a 10 litre cylinder containing foam, with a discharge capacity of 12 meters. The firemen on reaching the place of incidence would inform the severity of the incident to the control room, depending on which the required number of fire tenders would be sent to douse the fire, Narasimha Reddy said.
Speaking on the occasion,  additional secretary, Home,  Anita Rajendra said the mist bikes introduced last year were very helpful, when there were fire mishaps in the Old City.
